“Seriously, what is going on with Trump’s rear end here? It looks like he has some sort of contraption back there.”
That was the question that helped turn a few seconds of video from Donald Trump’s Long Island appearance into an online guessing game.
Political commentator Aaron Rupar posted footage of Trump walking away from the stage on August 14, pointing out what appeared to be an unusual, box-shaped outline beneath the back of the president’s suit.
The clip quickly spread, with social media users offering everything from practical explanations to jokes and wild theories. Some wondered if the shape was a piece of equipment. Others blamed the suit’s fit. A few revived old rumors about Trump’s health.
But despite the flood of speculation, one thing remains clear: no one has identified what caused the unusual shape.
A Brief Walk Off Stage Created A Viral Mystery
The footage came from Trump’s Long Island event, where he spoke to supporters about crime.
The video, shared by then-White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, showed Trump leaving the stage with what viewers described as a strange protrusion near the right-rear side of his jacket.
The Daily Beast later reported on the moment, describing the shape as appearing “as if something rigid were tucked underneath” Trump’s suit.
That description captured exactly why the clip gained attention.
